In 1909, a new company called the Horsforth Car Company was established, and this time the business was more successful. The company produced a range of small cars, and by the outbreak of the First World War, was selling around 200 vehicles per year.

However, the war had a devastating effect on the car industry in Horsforth, and by 1918, the Horsforth Car Company had ceased production. It would be many years before the car industry would return to the town.

In the late 1940s, a number of small engineering companies began to set up in Horsforth, and this led to the establishment of the Horsforth Engineering Company in 1950. The company produced a range of components for the motor industry, and by the early 1960s, was supplying parts to a number of major manufacturers.

In the late 1960s, the company diversified into the production of complete vehicles, and in 1970, the Horsforth Car Company was relaunched. The company produced a small number of cars, but went out of business in 1974.

The car industry in Horsforth finally came to an end in the early 1980s, when the last of the town's engineering companies closed down.
